16mm Scratch built Radio controlled European NG Bogie Diesel 32mm gauge

Here we have an unusual but very interesting item, based on the generic later half of the 20th century N/G Diesel you would get in northern and Eastern Europe.

This is 16mm scale and gauged at 32mm, it’s has been scratch built out of plastic card, with metal for the frames and bogies. Also the gearing for the motors is also metal so they won’t disintegrate on you.

The couplers are Kaydee’s.

Both bogies are powered with Mashima motors, and this has chain drive as well so all axles are driven. The bogies also have extra weight added to make it more stable. Also all the detailing on the bogies is custom cast white-metal to give it extra weight and to help with adhesion.

The electronics is a 12volt system and the radio control system is from Fosworks and this includes full sound, which the build record inform the full size loco.

The cab roof is removable, this is were the on and off switch is as well as the charging socket.

The loco runs really well, and can run at a nice scale speed, but is also powerful enough to pull pretty much any rolling stock you care to put behind it.
